Sarah & Kris’ Wedding

And we’re back on a plane.

Finally, things are starting to open back up as vaccination rates begin to climb. After postponing their wedding several times, Kris Sarah decided it was going down in Vancouver/Burnaby on September 16th.

Ally and I flew out Tuesday morning of that week. Aside from the constant mask wearing it was a fairly standard process. There are definitely less flights on right now so the planes are full. We flew a bombardier CJ out of NL and then a 787 dreamliner from Montreal so we had two seats to ourselves both flights.

It was so nice to be back in Vancouver. We stayed at Sarah and Kris’ place that first night, then moved downtown to Parq hotel for three nights. After a rehearsal dinner Wednesday we went to bed early to catch up on jet lag and be rested for the big day. The wedding day on Thursday was amazing. The weather was perfect, and everything went according to schedule. Literally the nicest wedding I’ve ever been to.

The rest of the week was great. Ally and I managed to eat at a bunch of places we used to love when we lived here. Jinya and Phogoodness were wonderful, since we don’t really have ramen or pho in St. John’s.

Friday night was drinks at the casino with friends. That was a late one.

On Saturday we had Korean BBQ at Hanwoori, and then when to a Kris’ family friends house, where I was “forced” to drink a bunch of delicious whiskey. Really great night.

Sunday morning I managed to get out to Port Moody to visit my friends Ryan and Jess. They cooked breakfast and we walked around the area, and ended at one of the breweries.

The wedding ended Sunday evening with a Chinese dinner in Burnaby. This supper was so many courses (I think I counted 10) and lasted about four hours. It was definitely a unique experience and I felt extremely grateful to be included in the event.

We chilled all Monday and caught the red eye home at 11pm that night. I’m stoked Sarah and Kris asked us to be a part of this week, as it was one I won’t forget for a long time. Now to not drink for the next month!
